Role Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for roofing and solar installation packages across new build residential projects. Working closely with the Commercial and Contracts teams, you will play a key role in securing work, supporting tender submissions, and ensuring projects are delivered with strong commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for roofing and solar installation packages.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents for new build housing schemes.
- Work closely with Commercial Managers to ensure bids are commercially viable and competitive.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to source quotes, assess costs, and negotiate best value.
- Develop bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and cost plans.
- Support value engineering initiatives and alternative design solutions to drive cost efficiencies.
- Assist with handover to project delivery teams, ensuring smooth transition from pre-construction to site.
- Contribute to the growth of the Roofing & Solar Division by developing best practice in estimating processes and systems.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within new build residential construction.
- Strong knowledge of roofing systems and/or solar installations highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to produce detailed, accurate costings.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Familiarity with estimating software and strong Excel capability.
- Commercially minded with the ability to balance cost, quality, and risk.
